Brittany Rappe is happy to be back at Grand County high school, 14 years after her graduation in 2002. Now, Brittany works as a Counseling Assistant and Scholarship Coordinator for the students here at GCHS.
She has been a great help for those looking to go to college, or even to just get their schedule on track. “I’m a Red Devil again! I’m working at the high school in the counseling department and I love it. The staff has been so welcoming and encouraging and the students are keeping me on my toes. I’m enjoying being able to support them and help prepare them for the future”, Brittany exclaims.
Previously she has worked as a Special Education Paraeducator; Career/Transition Coach; Junior High youth pastor; Administrative Assistant; Hillsong College Administrator/Housing Manager; and a Hillsong College Instructor.
After living in northern Utah, and Denver, Colorado; Brittany moved to Sydney Australia. Here she attended Hillsong International Leadership College, where she earned her Advanced Diploma in Leadership. She also attended AlphaCrucis College, and received her Bachelor of Theology.
Lucky for her though, studying wasn’t the only thing she got to do while living in another country. “I snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, swam with wild dolphins in Jervis Bay, road tripped the coast of Queensland, hiked and road tripped around New Zealand, and explored the beaches of Fiji!” Brittany tells me. “Traveling and studying in OZ has been the best. I met some of the most amazing people from all over the world, and made friendships that will last a lifetime. It taught me so much about myself, and other cultures, and changed me for the better. I would encourage everyone, especially young people, to take a year off and travel- it is the best thing you could ever do for yourself!”
Although Brittany loved her Australian experience, she is pleased to be back in her hometown, Moab. “I had finished my degree in Australia and was missing family so came home for a visit and decided to stay!” Brittany explains.
Brittany Rappe has 3 siblings, all Alumni as well: Silas Rappe (class of ’98), living in Moab; Courtney Long (class of ’99), living in Denver, Colorado; and Seth Rappe (class of ’06), living in Sydney, Australia. Brittany’s parents, Carl and Debbie Rappe are alumni as well and still reside here in Moab.
“I love the scenery here- we are surrounded by so much beauty- I missed that. Don’t get me wrong, Australia is beautiful, but there is just something about this place!” she says.
