Experience Canyonlands, Arches from Above with Redtail Air Adventures
By Sharon Sullivan

There’s so much natural splendor to experience around Moab it can be difficult to take it all in. For that reason, Redtail Air recommends booking a flight with them for an “adventure from above.” Redtail Air offers scenic airplane tours of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, the Tribal Park of Monument Valley, and surrounding areas.

“It’s an opportunity to see Moab in an extraordinary way,” said Jenny Gleason, Redtail Air’s Director of Sales and Marketing.
The company offers set routes, as well as customized trips. The shortest pre-set flight is over Arches National Park and lasts 30 minutes. It’s most popular route flies over both Canyonlands and Arches, lasting 80 minutes. Redtail Air’s longest set route is four hours, and takes in Canyonlands, Monument Valley, the Colorado River, and Lake Powell with a landing in Marble Canyon for a lunch or brunch restaurant stop.

“Absolutely amazing,” is how Kimberly Holliday Hall described her flight tour over Arches. “Our pilot, Chris, was kind and very knowledgeable,” she said. “My daughter and I felt perfectly safe and comfortable in his plane. We loved listening to him talk about the different features of the park and surrounding areas. I would recommend Redtail Air for anyone looking to experience Arches (or Canyonlands) from the air.”

Redtail’s charter business is also popular. Clients can charter a plane to and from popular surrounding areas such as Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Heber City near the Park City area, the Lake Powell area, Phoenix, plus, Telluride and Montrose in Colorado.

Redtail Air additionally offers shuttles for people beginning or ending river rafting trips. Planes land at dirt or sand landing strips along the Green or Colorado rivers for take-ins and take-outs. Redtail provides this service for outfitters such as Mild to Wild Rafting, and Western Rivers Expeditions. Redtail also offers shuttles for private trips.

For those who want to fly an airplane themselves, the company offers flight instruction, in Moab and in Price, for both new and experienced pilots.

Redtail Air is open daily, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., April through October, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from November to March. Trips can be booked online, or at its office at Canyonlands Regional Airport, 94 W. Aviation Way. For more information visit flyredtail.com or call 435-259-7421.
