April is an exciting time at the Moab Museum, with an array of events and exhibitions that invite locals and visitors alike to explore the region’s fascinating history. From compelling performances at Star Hall to an elegant evening at the annual gala, the Museum offers something for everyone this month.

Ongoing Exhibition: U92 – Moab’s Uranium Legacy
Since its February opening, the U92: Moab’s Uranium Legacy exhibition has drawn visitors eager to learn about the atomic age’s impact on Moab. This immersive exhibit follows six historically-based personas—from miners and mill operators to entrepreneurs—guiding visitors through the highs and lows of the uranium boom. Running through late November, U92 is a must-see for those interested in the forces that shaped modern Moab.

Oppenheimer Comes to Star Hall – April 4th
Step into the world of the atomic era with Clay Jenkinson’s riveting portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer on Friday, April 4, at 7:00 PM at Star Hall. This unique performance, blending first-person storytelling with historical analysis, will explore Oppenheimer’s role in nuclear history and the ethical dilemmas he faced. A post-performance discussion will delve into the ongoing legacy of nuclear science. Tickets are available online or at the door.

Moab Museum Annual Gala – April 3rd
One of the most anticipated events of the year, the Moab Museum’s Annual Gala, will be held on Saturday, April 3. This elegant evening will feature a live auction of exclusive experiences, including a behind-the-scenes collections tour, a guided archaeology walk, and a star-gazing event with local experts. The gala supports the Museum’s ongoing exhibitions, programs, and community initiatives—so whether you’re a longtime member or new to the Museum, this is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and support Moab’s rich history.

Looking Ahead: Mary Dickson at the Museum May 20th
While April is packed with engaging programming, visitors can also look forward to a special event in May featuring journalist and Downwinder advocate Mary Dickson. Moab Museum Presents
Clay Jenkinson as J. Robert Oppenheimer at Star Hall

The Moab Museum is proud to present an extraordinary evening with acclaimed humanities scholar and historical interpreter Clay Jenkinson, as he brings to life the complex figure of J. Robert Oppenheimer. Join us on Friday, April 4, at 7 PM at Star Hall for a captivating performance exploring Oppenheimer’s pivotal role in developing the atomic bomb, followed by an interactive discussion on preventing future global conflicts.

Jenkinson is widely recognized for his first-person portrayals of historical figures, including Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Meriwether Lewis, and J. Robert Oppenheimer. His unique monologue-style performances, followed by audience Q&A sessions, provide an immersive and insightful experience.

This special program is part of the Moab Museum’s ongoing exhibition, U92: Moab’s Uranium Legacy, which opened on February 15 and runs through late November 2025. The exhibit explores Moab’s complex relationship with uranium mining and nuclear history, making Jenkinson’s Oppenheimer portrayal especially relevant to the region.

About Clay Jenkinson:
Clay Jenkinson is a renowned public humanities scholar, author, and radio host best known for his portrayals of historical figures. His nationally syndicated radio show, The Thomas Jefferson Hour, features him in character as Jefferson, answering audience questions on historical and contemporary issues. He also hosts the Listening to America podcast, where he discusses history, literature, and culture. Jenkinson has led cultural tours focused on the life and legacy of J. Robert Oppenheimer and has extensively explored the intersection of science, literature, and history.
