You are ready. Change Your Life.
The world is conspiring to enrich your life. This paper
found its way to your hands. Your eyes found their way to
this piece. Discover the fulfillment of making a contribution:
“The true meaning of life is to plant trees under
whose shade you do not plan to sit.”
–Nelson Henderson
One Hour of Fun
Sixty-two Moab volunteers honor Henderson’s philosophy
by mentoring students in Kindergarten through Tenth Grade
for one hour each week. Mentors and students meet one-on-one
to play board games, complete research on the computer, whirl
the tetherball, toss the frisbee, and create imaginative
arts or crafts. The hour speeds by with adult and child engaged
in activities that are important and fun to both.
The Power of Résumé Building
“Kindness, like a boomerang, always returns.”
Before being matched with a student, mentors complete an
application and are fully trained. GrandAM volunteers learn
about Moab schools, education, children, leadership, and
problem solving. With the challenges and rewards that come
with trying something new, mentors develop important skills.
Volunteers say mentoring is as much about learning as it
is about guiding.
Exponential Impact
“It is one of the beautiful compensations of this life
that no one can sincerely try to help another without helping
himself.” –Charles Dudley Warner
Each GrandAM volunteer meets new people, has fun, learns
valuable skills, and makes a young friend – all while
changing our world for the better. Every drop of invested
care will ripple out to touch not only a child’s life,
but also the health of this community for generations.
You’ve had mentors. Pass it on.
Doing good can’t get any easier or more meaningful
than helping a child gain confidence, build important skills,
and feel special. A child is waiting for you. What are you
waiting for?
