49th Annual Gem and Mineral Show

Truckloads of agates, fossils, crystals, gemstones and beautifully crafted lapidary items will be on display at the 49th Annual Gem and Mineral Show sponsored by the Moab Points and Pebbles Club. The Club has been putting on this annual show since 1959. This year’s show runs from Friday, October 10 through Sunday October 12, and is held at the Spanish Trail Arena. Show hours are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

Points and Pebbles The show will feature over 30 lapidary, rock and gem dealers. Dealers will be displaying and selling an incredible array of natural wonders including cabochons, slabs, rough, jewelry, polished stones, gemstones, crystals, fossils, shells and exotic minerals along with hand tools, lapidary tools and books.

There will be demonstrations on creating wire-wrapped jewelry and even gold panning for anyone who would like to try their hand at it. And Moab’s own Sterling Wade will demonstrate how to grind and polish rock-hound finds.

Members of the Moab Points and Pebbles Club will have an amazing array of locally found specimens including “Yellow Cat Redwood”, agate, crystals, fossils and petrified wood. A favorite with kids of all ages is the Spin Wheel – every spin is a win! There will also be a silent auction and door prizes donated by vendors and local businesses.

The club will also be offering guided rock-hounding field trips on both Saturday and Sunday. All trips will leave the Spanish Trail Arena at 9 a.m. and require high clearance vehicles. If you are interested, make sure to sign up at the arena to go on these daylong trips. Bring lunch, water and wear sturdy shoes. (Please keep in mind that field trips destinations may have to be changed or trips cancelled if weather or road conditions aren’t favorable).

So, come discover your inner rock hound at the Moab Points and Pebbles Gem and Mineral Show.
