UDOT - Region Four - Project Report

This report spotlights major construction projects in Grand County both on-going and planned. The project descriptions provide general information: overall scope, and anticipated schedules.

Some projects may not be included due to their short duration or lesser impacts on traffic. Project schedules are also subject to change due to environmental issues, funding availability, delayed or accelerated design processes, etc.
This report does not include information on federal, county or city projects unless UDOT is directly involved. Please refer to the proper agency for information on projects not included in this report.

Grand County
Moab Main Street

Project includes a total reconstruction of the pavement on Moab’s Main Street from 200 North to 300 South and for the mill and re-paving of Main Street from 300 South to Overlook Road and from 200 North to 500 North. The section from 100 South to 300 South is currently under construction as the last phase of the project. Completion of the project is anticipated by end of August 2006.

Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge over the Colorado River
Project includes the construction of a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over the Colorado River at Lions Park north of Moab City. The project is currently in design phase with advertisement anticipated in Summer 2006 with construction to begin in fall 2006 or spring 2007.

Pedestrian/Bicycle Trail Near SR 128
Project includes the construction of a bicycle/pedestrian trail from Lions Park to Negro Bill Canyon in the SR-128 corridor. The project is currently in design phase with advertisement anticipated in fall 2006 with construction to begin in winter 2006-07.

U.S. 191 Colorado River Bridge
Environmental Assessment
Project includes the preliminary design and environmental assessment of a four-lane bridge to replace the Colorado River Bridge north of Moab. A UDOT consultant is working on the preliminary design and environmental assessment with completion expected in by spring 2007. Final design will follow with construction anticipated in 2008 or 2009.

I-70 from Floy Wash to Crescent Junction (MP 175-182)
Project includes lane leveling and re-paving of Interstate 70 from Floy Wash to Crescent Junction. Construction expected through the summer. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction.

Bridge 8.8 miles north of Moab on SR 128
Project includes the widening of a bridge on SR 128 about 9 miles north of Moab. The project is advertised for bid with construction anticipated in late summer 2006 or spring 2007.

San Juan County

U.S. 491 from Monticello to the Colorado State Line
(MP 9-17)
Project includes the reconstruction of U.S. Highway 491 from MP 9 to MP 17. Project under construction with an anticipated finish by October.

State Route 262 from Montezuma Creek
to Aneth (Environmental Assessment)
Project includes safety improvements and the reconstruction of state Route 262. Consultants are currently conducting an environmental assessment and considering alternatives for SR 262. EA completion is expected in 2007 with a potential construction project to follow in 2008 or 2009.

McElmo Creek Bridge
Project includes the replacement of a bridge over McElmo Creek bridge on state Route 262 near Aneth. Staff is currently working on preliminary design and environmental documents with potential construction anticipated in 2007 or 2008.
